Moths - Macro
These are our larger, generally more familiar moths. There are something like 3,00 species of moth in the UK, of which towards a third are classed as 'Macro' moths. All have common names. Quite a few are day flying but the majority are nocturnal. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colours and patterns. Here are just a relatively small sample that I have encountered around home and garden and on walks in a variety of countryside habitats. Family groupings have been borrowed from expert publications.
